Overview of the vacancy
We are looking to recruit a 3+ years PQE Private Client solicitor for our Guildford office.
We would consider part time (4 days) or flexible working hours; but the role will be primarily office based.
There would be an ability to work from home on an as needed basis up to 40% of their contracted hours per week once probation has been completed.
The ideal person will be a dynamic individual with a minimum of 3 years’ PQE and with demonstrable expertise and enthusiasm in dealing with a full range of private client work, gained at a practice recognised in this area. STEP and/or SFE qualifications are preferred; or a willingness to study towards these is required.
Job Description
To undertake fee earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the work of the department. To meet fee earning and other KPI targets.

To ensure the successful development of the firm in line with the current published Business Plan

To handle wills, powers of attorney, trusts, probate and tax advice work for private clients and to build and develop your own case load.

To participate in the marketing of the firm by active participation in networking, seminar provision etc.

To maintain and improve client care.

To develop own specialist areas of work.

To assist the department as a whole in meeting its fee earning targets by providing help regarding advice and assistance to clients of the department as well as other departments of the firm.

Financial control with particular regard to cash-flow control through collection of monies on account and billing procedures.

Travelling to client meetings both in and outside the UK when required.

To promote good file management, to formulate and advance internal procedures and to ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory procedures.
Qualifications

Competence in chosen area of law and practice.

Achieves targets in respect of chargeable hours, fees, recovery rate, lock-up and non-chargeable time.

Develops and maintains a client/referrer base.

Understands and undertakes proper referral of work to relevant departments and development of work for other departments.

Shows willingness to be involved in activities of the firm outside of work within the department to which the individual is assigned.

Where appropriate, supervises junior members of staff.

Is involved in practice development.
