Wills and Estate Planning
At TWM we pride ourselves on our ability to offer you and your family a bespoke Will and Inheritance Tax planning service. Whether you require advice regarding your Will or wish to discuss passing wealth on to your family using lifetime gifts, we will offer you a clear and uncomplicated review of your current circumstances, and a step-by-step explanation of how we can assist you.
It is vitally important that you understand all of the options open to you following a detailed review of your family situation. We have a knowledgeable and experienced team of Solicitors in place who will ensure that we obtain all of the necessary information from you to ensure that you end up with a document which is perfectly suited to your requirements.
Below are answers to some of the key questions that clients often ask us:
"Do I need a Will?"
We feel that all adults should have a Will in place, even where their affairs are relatively straightforward. The law of Intestacy will deal with what happens to individuals who die without a Will. However, without a Will you will not be able to select the executors who will deal with your estate, decide who will arrange your funeral or who will look after any minor children as guardians. You will also lose the opportunity to make cash gifts to friends, family members or charities, or dictate what would happen to your personal belongings. In short, by creating a Will you are removing uncertainty, making life easier for your family and ultimately taking control of your affairs.
You may feel that you do not require a Will, but only by speaking to a Solicitor will you be able to apply your circumstances to all of the facts. We will also be able to keep you fully up to date with any recent changes in the law which you may not have been aware of including the recent introduction of the Residence Nil Rate Band (RNRB).
"I have very simple affairs and don't want to over-complicate things"
In our experience no two families have exactly the same circumstances, and often there may be factors involved which you thought were simple, but actually require careful consideration.
We will simply and clearly present the options open to you, apply them against the specific facts of your family situation and help you to make a decision that is best for you. We provide a tailored Will which offers the best protection for you and your family.
Our Wills range from a simple gift to your partner on first death, and then on to children or family members on second death, up to Wills which are designed to help protect future generations and help them plan for inheritance tax, potential divorce and bankruptcy.

"How much will it cost to produce a Will"
Given that we offer a personal service rather than a 'one size fits all' package, it is difficult to give a fee estimate before we have met with you. However, we can promise that your first meeting to discuss your Will is free of charge, with no obligation to proceed and you will not incur any charges until you are fully aware what our fees will be.
We offer a fixed fee service for our Wills. This means that from the moment you have received our quotation to when you have signed the final Will you will know what the cost of the matter will be. The fee quotation will only alter if the matter becomes more complex or more time consuming than we had originally anticipated.
