TWM Bake Off Competition impresses Brittens chef as Macmillan Cancer benefit from cake sale.
TWM Solicitors held its own Bake Off competition today to raise money for the Macmillan Coffee Morning Appeal. Long after BBCs GBBO finished last night, our own star bakers were putting the finishing touches to their entries.
And well they might be taking the competition seriously, for it was judged by a panel including Dan Britten of Brittens Restaurant in Guildford. Once a contestant on Masterchef and as recently as last week named a local hero for inspiring others in business, Dan and fellow judges Jess Blake from Macmillan and Matthew Truelove (TWM managing partner) tasted over 20 entries.
Dan Britten said the overall standard was extremely high and a number of entries he would happily sell in his restaurant shop based on both presentation and taste. The overall winner was Management Executive Elizabeth Sewell for her Seaside Carrot Cake. Once the judging was complete, the cakes were cut and pieces sold raising more money alongside a raffle for a hamper kindly donated by the Charterhouse Cheese and Wine Emporium. Across all of our offices that held events the total amount raised was £870.
