Friday 9th September saw 70 members of staff from TWM Solicitors take part in the firm’s third ‘Adventure Relay’. The premise of the event, which seeks to raise valuable funds for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, is that members of staff travel around the various TWM offices by any means possible – but no engines or motors are allowed.
The recent addition of offices in Chelsea and Fulham made this year’s task even harder than before, and a 6am start outside Michelin House beckoned for the first six riders who would be setting off on Boris bikes. Various other whacky modes of transport were used throughout the day, with Daniel Church and David Hitchcock using micro scooters, pedal go-karts, mountain bikes and road bikes to cover the entire 62 mile journey from Chelsea to Guildford via Fulham, Wimbledon, Epsom, Leatherhead, Reigate and Cranleigh.
Other members of staff from TWM would join in throughout the day with a large group completing their part of the ‘relay’ course by walking a marathon 25 miles. Tricia Joaquim and Lynn Child really pushed the boundaries by rowing into Guildford from Shalford on an inflatable sea kayak, whilst Leatherhead High Street was brought to a standstill by the appearance of Sarah Bostock and Megan Addley on horseback!
At around 3pm in the afternoon TWM had members of staff dotted all over Surrey, with some still in London skateboarding, several walkers lost in the Surrey Hills and cyclists tearing down mountain bike tracks. Perhaps by good planning (or luck) the various groups all converged at TWM’s Guildford office at approximately 6pm to celebrate their achievements over pizza and a beer.
To date the event has raised £4,250, with donations still flooding in. Event organiser, trainee Solicitor Sarah Marchant, said “I am so proud of TWM’s achievements over the course of the day. The amount raised is fantastic and has surpassed our previous highest total by £1,250 so far! The KSS Air Ambulance has been our chosen charity for many years, and we are so pleased to have raised this money for them. In total, TWM have raised £75,000 for them to support their life saving work.”
