Whilst the commentators debate whether the long awaited recovery has begun, on the ground, employers who we know are looking to recruit more staff to meet the rising demand. With this in mind we suggest that this is a good opportunity to ensure that your recruitment house is in order. This should include reviewing:
- Recruitment process- to ensure that you recruit the right candidate and avoid claims from disappointed applicants, including reviewing your interview process to ensure consistency and to ensure it is fit for purpose;
- Administrative and pre-commencement requirements- to ensure you have the required ID documents from new staff before they start, to prove they have the right to work in the UK and avoid liability for employing illegal workers;
- Contracts- Of course the contract must contain the statutory requirements, but also should include terms covering confidentiality, post termination restraints, bonuses and commission arrangements;
- Employment policies. Produced to better regulate how employees deal with work associated matters and to help protect you in the event of any claims.
