Below are recent examples of matters we have advised upon:

  • We acted for an Employee who had been subject to a prolonged campaign of discrimination on grounds of sex including victimisation for raising complaints about the treatment. Following a lengthy trial we were able to secure compensation in excess of £30,000 for this individual.
  • Our client was a trader on the LIFFE whose employer sought to impose a penalty reducing his entitlement to commission on profit which he had earned for the employer as a result of trading. We were able to obtain judgment against the employer for sums in the region of £500,000 reversing the imposed penalty.
  • Advising two shareholder/director/employees in relation to claims for unpaid salary, commission and bonus, including negotiations with other director/shareholders of the employer company; preparation of Employment Tribunal claims; and strategic advice on the inter-relation between those claims and proposed Court proceedings.
  • Advising a senior executive and former shareholder of the employer company in relation to a potential claim by another employee and the impact of such a claim on the senior executive under the indemnities in the Share Sale Agreement. Advising on the indemnities and potential Court proceedings, putting together a proposal to the company, and liaising with the client's accountants. Further advising in relation to the impact on the client of a grievance raised by the other employee and potential disciplinary action against the client. Advising in relation to issues arising from the client being placed on garden leave for a year. Negotiating settlement by way of compromise agreement after protracted negotiations.
  • Advising on Employment issues arising out of Family matters, such as advising in relation to divorce proceedings where the couple owned a business together.
