SENIOR ASSOCIATE, RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY, EPSOM OFFICE

To join and help to develop our Residential Property Department, we are looking to recruit a Senior Associate in our Epsom Office.

This is a senior position within the Department and the Office. The Applicant will be responsible for this service at one of the Firm’s busiest offices and for managing two support staff. The Firm will look sympathetically upon a request for additional fee earner support- most likely in the form of a paralegal.

There is a need to be proactive and responsive to clients and introducers. As mentioned above, maintaining and developing relations with introducers is crucial and a willingness to promote oneself and the Firm is a requirement.

The Applicant will:-

• Display a sound knowledge of and have experience in residential property

• Be keen to develop and participate in marketing activities for the Team as well as the Department, the Office and the Firm.

And undertake duties as specified in the job description below:-

• To assist the department as a whole in meeting its fee earning targets by providing help regarding advice and assistance to clients of the Residential department as well as other Departments of the Firm.

• Conduct of matters on behalf of clients

• Management of support services for which (s)he is responsible, including supervision of own secretary if appropriate

• Participation in marketing and networking activities whether on a firm-wide, departmental or office basis

• Financial control with particular regard to cash-flow control through collection of monies on account and billing procedures.

• To participate fully in the activities of the Residential dept

• To assist during the absence of other fee earners

• Carrying out work outside of normal hours where the work requires this

• Travelling to client meetings both in and outside the UK when required

• Promoting good file management

• Assisting with formulating and advancing internal procedures

• Undertake other duties as from time to time required and agreed

• To maintain professional knowledge base including attainment of annual CPD points.

Qualifications

• A good honours degree

Essential personal qualities and attributes

1. Technical competence in chosen area of law and practice.

2. Achieves targets in respect of chargeable hours, fees, recovery rate, lock-up and non-chargeable time for a Senior Associate solicitor.

3. Has developed a client/referrer base.

4. Understands and undertakes proper referral of work to relevant departments and development of work for other departments.

5. Shows willingness to be involved in activities of the firm outside of work within the department to which the individual is assigned.

6. Where appropriate, supervises junior members of staff.

7. Is involved in practice development.

• Prior knowledge of Aim/AXXIA or other office management systems and office dictation
